The following are some useful links to help you plan and

Local Restaurants Bonaventure, French/Scottish
cuisine in a remote restaurant with fantastic views
and friendly service. Simply the best in the area and
highly recommended as one not to miss for lunch or
dinner.
Travel Caledonian MacBrayne operate ferry
services from Ullapool to Sornoway and Uig, Isle of
Skye to Tarbert. British Airways operate services to
Stornoway from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness. Car
hire at Stornoway airport is available from Arnol Motors amongst others.
Newspapers The Stornoway Gazette is the island's
local newspaper
Tourist Information The Western Isles Tourist Board
provides information on all the western isles
including the Isle of Lewis
Sports There are two golf courses on the
island, in Stornoway is the Stornoway Golf Club and on the west
coast of Harris at Scarista is the Harris Golf Club. This course is
situated right on the coast.
Boat Trips Try Island Cruising on the
MV Cuma or take a trip out with
Murray MacLeod from Sea Trek. They are both located
within a short 10 minute drive from the house and the
visit to Pabay Mor is highly recommended.
Other Information In the house you will
see many framed photographs of the local area. All these
photographs were taken by James Smith and bought from his
gallery at Bru on the Isle of
Lewis. In the living room there is a replica set of
the famous Lewis Chessmen, this and other
similar sets are available from Hebridean Replicas and we also have
a few wooden objects from the nearby Gisla Woodcraft studio.
There are several web sites devoted to the Isle of Lewis and surrounding
Islands including the Isle of Barra, Scalpay, Taransay, Uist and Berneray.
